A collection of historic images from 1914-1918, the soundtrack is the song "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" recorded by John McCormack in 1914, this was a popular song up to the 1940's and beyond, and recounts a soldier's regrets for being far from home and his loved ones. For those interested in the copyright status of supposedly out of copyright songs this song has several claims see my Youtube dispute dialogue below: "It's A Long Way To Tipperary", musical composition administered by: Public Domain Compositions Your dispute awaiting response by 10/13/12 One or more music publishing rights collecting societies Your dispute awaiting response by 10/13/12 "James Horner-It's A Long Way To Tipperary", sound recording administered by: SME Claim released. "World War I In Poetry And Music", musical composition administered by: One or more music publishing rights collecting societies Claim released. As you can see claims have mostly been released but would you believe it some one called "Public Domain Compositions" claims to own it I guess they "own" all PD unfortunately YouTube have not told me who they are, anyone know? UPDATE: It looks like the entity "Public Domain Compositions" is actually part of Google. I managed to get an email (@google.com) for someone at "Public Domain Compositions" who promptly replied that the claim was a mistake, the claim was immediately lifted with out any the usual claim released dialogues etc. If anyone would like to download the mp3 for this and many other John McCormack PD songs you can form here: http://archive.org/details/JohnMccormack-02 720p HD Video by Rod Smith
