On February 22, 2017, 100 people attended an live webinar on Emerging Practices and Legal Context for Prescription Drugs and Marijuana in VAW Shelters. This is the first installment in the Open Doors Inclusive Service Model webinar series. It responds to a growing demand from shelters responding to violence against women to have legally appropriate, evidence-based and shelter-tested policy models.
Dr. Susan Boyd, a University of Victoria professor who recently served on the Federal Task Force on Cannabis Legalization, addresses the legal context. Melody Rose, Executive Director of MapleGate House, speaks about her experience since implementing trauma-informed approaches in her shelter.
