This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker. This video focuses on Plato's dialogue, The Apology, and examines Socrates's metaphor of the horse and the gadfly, as an analogy for his relationship to the city of Athens. I also discuss the specific ways Socrates mentions by which he fulfills this role of provoking the citizens of the city of Athens towards the examined life.
