"North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un scaled his country's highest mountain in time to watch the sun rise over his country, according to state-run media.
Kim was accompanied to the 9,022-foot summit of Mt. Paektu by a group of fighter pilots, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Pictures released by KCNA showed the smiling dictator against the backdrop of snowy mountains and a blazing sun.
"When one climbs snow stormy Mt. Paektu and undergoes the blizzards over it, one can experiences its real spirit and harden the resolution to accomplish the Korean revolution," Kim said, according to KCNA.
Lying on the border with China, Mt. Paektu holds a sacred place in Korean folklore as the birthplace of the leader's late father King Jong-il — though that has been disputed by historians.
Kim's was the latest apparent feat documented by the government news agency. Just last week it was claimed that Kim could drive a car by the age of three."
