Idea To Sell Tva May Have Cost The Utility $500 Million

U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander says President Obama's plan to consider selling the TVA has already cost hundreds of millions of dollars — even if the utility is never sold. Alexander said TVA bonds lost about $500 million dollars in value after the president's announcement last month. He said customers in the seven states served by TVA will likely pay more for electricity as a result. Alexander attacked the government, saying it would have been wiser for officials to have a private discussion about selling TVA first, rather than sending the value of the bonds plunging.
