Convert.Exe - Wrong Volume: The Wrong Volume Is In The Drive. Please Insert Volume Into Drive

Published on April 8, 2016

I am converting the File system of USB drive from FAT32 to NTFS using the cmd command. While converting file system, a Window open and showing the error message 'Convert.exe - Wrong Volume'. The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume into drive \Device\HarddiskVolume6. Then the command prompt Window showing the message 'Unable to notify other components that this volume has changed'. Finally, the drive is not accessible (Location is not available). The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. Solution: Before doing the file system conversion, check the drive for error. This can be done by 'chkdsk' command. Also, scan the drive for virus. This might prevent the drive becoming corrupted and unreadable.
